Youth Skilling programme in Dewas
Doris comes from a middle-class family. She lives with her parents and three sisters. Her mother was a nurse in a private hospital and father worked as a mechanic. Being a family of 6 people, their financial condition was not good.
Doris’s mother came to know about the para-nursing course of General Duty Assistant (GDA) course at SNSF through the GDA graduates who joined her hospital. She motivated her two daughters Doris and Donna to join the course. They successfully completed the course in 2010.
Pos–completion of the training, Doris worked in various hospitals and found that the GDA course is a stepping stone to a nursing career and requires advanced courses for further growth. During this period, she got married but faced difficult circumstances and became a victim of domestic violence. She took courage and divorced her husband. Later she completed the course of OT Assistant & B.Sc. Nursing.
At present she is working in Rajashree Apollo Hospital, Indore, at ₹ 28K salary per month and lives with her parents. With this her family monthly income has increased from ₹ 6K to ₹ 34K (467%).
Doris is looked upon as a role model by all around her. They admire her for her courage in leaving an abusive relationship and taking control of her own life.
