Milk Collection Centre at Neersagar village (Jodhalli)

  • In 2016 with SNSF facilitation women at village Neerasagar started a milk collection centre to regularly deposit milk of several households with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), Dharwad.
  • Deepa works as a secretary in this centre since its start. Her family comprises her husband, two children and in-laws.
  • Before starting this business, her husband who works as a security guard supervisor, was the only bread earner and struggled to meet the family expenses with his salary of ₹ 8K per month.
  • Deepa started dairy farming with 2 cattle, later purchased 3, while cattle at their home have gave birth to 5 more. In total now she owns 10 cattle.
  • Now with Deepa’s earning family monthly income is increased from ₹ 8K to 16K (100%). With the help of this increased income she purchased cattle, built a cow shed and helped her husband to purchase 1 acre of farmland.
