Micro-Entrepreneurship @ Village Hinganigada
(Kurkumbh, Pune)

  • Sita Anil Chavan is a member of the Jijamata Self Help Group in Village Hinganigada. Her family consists of five members. Sita’s husband works as a civil work labourer, earning a monthly income of 5K and they get 3K from there 2-acre agriculture land. With their limited income and reliance on rainfall they faced financial constraints. To overcome this Sita started  goat rearing.
  • Initially, she purchased two goats, but the income generated from them was insufficient. To improve her situation, Sita took a bank loan facilitated by SNS Foundation and purchased three more goats in May 2023. With proper care and management, her goat count increased from 5 to 15.
  • With this additional income, Sita invested in a flour mill, further diversifying her sources of income. Now, she is able to support her family with the income generated from both goat rearing and the flour mill.
  • Consequently, her family’s monthly income increased from ₹ 8K to ₹ 12K (50%).
