Delivery of health services using mobile vans has been an important component of the Foundation’s health projects. All 3 vans owned by SNSF have been gifted by Anand’s JV partner Henkel. The first van, gifted in 2000, helped SNSF clinch the esteemed project RCH on Wheels from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI. Over the next 2 years, the van helped deliver health services to 1.5 lac people in Gurugram’s urban slums and villages. Subsequent mobile health vans received from Henkel continued to help the organization serve rural population. These valuable resources were in action under partnerships forged with Perfetti van Melle and Reliance Haryana SEZ. The medical team on any mobile health van comprised of a doctor, paramedic and a driver. Medical check-ups were accompanied by supply of medicines at a concessional fee.
The Perfetti Van Melle collaboration helped reach healthcare access to the deprived Gurugram villages of Manesar, Kasan, Naharpur, Narsinghpur and Navada with a total population of 30,000. SNSF’s association with Reliance was an outcome of the latter’s decision to undertake social engagement with people of the villages where it was to initiate its business activities (Jhajjar, Haryana, Special Economic Zone). Mobile health services were introduced in 12 villages of Jhajjhar District viz. Sondhi, Yakubpur, Ismailpur, Fatehpur, Pelpa, Nimana, MP Majra, Ladpur, Faizabad, Bamnola, Dagri Toye, Badli covering approximately a 70000 people. With initiation of health services, the school health program in the region was activated post and the target population experienced a positive impact. Static clinics were set up to address unmet health needs of villages closer to Gurugram. Clinics were set up in villages of Khandsa, Jhanjhrola, Garhi, Harsaru, Kaliyawas, Monda Khera, Sultanpur, Iqbalpur, Burhera, Narsinghpur and MP Jharsa. Mobile health services continued to remain a dominant feature of the Foundation’s health vertical until 2010.
