Mr. Deep C. Anand, Founder of ANAND and Chairman of the Deep C. Anand Foundation
The history of ANAND dates back to 1961, when a 27-year-old enterprising young man Mr. Deep C. Anand established his first business venture called Gabriel India. It was the flagship company of the ANAND Group and was set up in collaboration with Maremont Corporation (now Gabriel Ride Control Products of Arvin Meritor Inc., USA) for the manufacture of shock absorbers at Mulund in Mumbai.
Mr. Anand spent long hours discussing his vision and future plans with business magnates like Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Mr. Parikh (Chairman, Voltas), Mr. Holck Larsen, Mr. K. C. Maitra (Chairman, GKW) and other eminent overseas friends from the automotive products industry like Mr. John Panks (Chairman, TRW Automotive Products) and Mr. Arnold Maremont (Chairman, Maremont). He also deliberated with his talented, bright and entrepreneurial managers who helped him shape his thoughts and aspirations.
Over the next five decades, ANAND formed similar alliances with leading global companies in the automotive components industry. With the establishment of this joint venture, Mr. Anand set the stage for the collaborative approach that ANAND is known for and started bringing the best available talent from all over the world to India.
